The Theory of Approval
I have a theory I want to test out. It's called the Theory of Approval. I've tested this for a long time and I believe that we crave certain mechanisms that portray approval or completion. For instance, when I download a large game I sit there and wait, sometimes for hours just to see it complete to 100%. It's something subconscious about that final confirmation that just completed the deal so to speak. Same thing with when I'm cleaning computers of viruses, malware, etc. I enjoy watching the software do its work as it shows me the details, percentages, and approvals that the computer is clean and ready to go.
Maybe it's just me but I think I'm not alone in this. What are your thoughts?

What If It Doesn't Work? - The Mindset Behind Failure
This can be daunting to comprehend, especially during the first time. All that work you did, gone. The late nights, wasted...Rewind. Backup. It's not too late.
Failure can be one of the best learning tools that you can utilize if done correctly. Just because you fail doesn't make you a failure. You only truly fail when you know the mistake you made and ignore it and don't learn from it.
About a year or so ago I had the opportunity of a lifetime. I was able to start my own computer repair company. I wrote the business plan, built the website, designed a marketing campaign, the whole nine yards. My business partner and I had the same goals. Unfortunately, we had to split ways because of disagreement but at this point alot of you would probably say I failed. I thought the same thing. But later I realized I didn't fail.
I had two choices. Either I was going to let that destroy me or I could learn from it and make something better. It wasn't easy but it was the right decision. I took a failure and made a success from it. This is part of the reason why this blog exists. I knew I have something to teach people and I had the chance to help people.
That's what drives me today.
Something to think about. Don't give up!

What Shall You're Area of Expertise Be? - Choosing a Path
Once you've decided to become an entrepreneur, first of all, congratulations! You've joined the group of people who's lives will never be full or boring and full of excitement and risk. Now it's time to pick you're path, what shall you "entrepreneu?"
To give you some inspiration, way back when I was a kid, I remember watching over my big brother's shoulder on the computer. I was so fascinated by the machine, how to worked, what the pieces did to fit together to whirr, buzz, and beep. Out of this fascination, my love for computers was born.
Later, unbenounced to me, I would take that a step further and enter the world of cyber security which is my current path.

The Hardest Part is Starting
It took me years to realize this concept. Some people learn slower than others. This doesn't mean you are slower or less intelligent than another person. It means you learn at a different pace than others.
Another hard concept was accepting that it's okay to have someone criticise your work. By having an extra set of eyes, you gain a different viewpoint from a viewer. So while the start is the hardest part, it's worth it in the end.

What's in an Entrepreneur?
You know how we sometimes ask ourselves, what's in a name? Well, when I started my journey I remember watching a special on the History Channel about the Railroad Era and the entrepreneurs that started that expansive undertaking. I was immediately drawn to those individuals, not because of the amount of wealth they acrued, but the positive risk they took by sharing ideas and finding a problem to fix.
This is what I think about when I hear the word entrepreneur. A person or group of people who actively find a problem and eventually solve that problem with a solution that truly changes the structure society lives upon.
According to a direct Google search the definition of Entrepreneur:
"a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so."
Let's think about this for a second and add it to our context of the railroad show from the History Channel. In that respect, the definition fits perfectly. However, I would add intellectual risks as well. What do I mean by an intellectual risk? This is a term I use to describe the mental processes we go through subconsciously when taking the financial and other risks entrepreneurs take in all aspects of their business. I would go as far as saying the intellectual risk is more impactful and sometimes more stressful than the financial burden.
This is just one of the many factors that make up an entrepreneur, in my opinion. It took me seven years to actually sit down and decide to write this blog because I want to show people what it really is like from a personal standpoint.
In a greater sense, just as the individual entrepreneurs were building the railroads, they were also building their internal tracks as well. Who knows, maybe that's where the idea came from? Something to think about.

The Seven Year Entrepreneur - The Beginning
I knew one day I was going to do just that. That day is today, January 30th, 2017. The day I started The Seven Year Entrepreneur. This blog is more than tips and tricks, it's a direct insight into an entrepreneurial mind. One mindset you may not associate with a typical entrepreneur.
Over my span of seven years, I've spent hundreds of hours researching, testing, and observing humanity. I've watched the way people have interacted with technology as it's gone from the wonder of the first iPhone to transparent aluminum. Yes folks, technology is more than circuits and wires. As we humans conduct small amounts of electricity, we can literally be connected to the devices, systems, and architecture of society we live in daily.
